A Paget woman has been fined $300 after admitting to possessing cannabis.
Patricia Parsons, who turns 56 tomorrow, appeared in Magistrates’ Court this morning and pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled drug.
Prosecutor Cindy Clarke told the court that police searched Parsons’s home on Middle Road, Paget, on January 14 and found a wrap of “plant-like material” on her pillowcase, later found to be 1.19 grams of cannabis with a street value of $55.
The court was told that Parsons, who is unemployed, had no previous convictions and that the drug was for personal use.
Magistrate Archibald Warner fined her $300 with 30 days in prison in default of payment.
