Motorcyclist dies after crash
A motorcyclist seriously injured in a crash two weeks ago has died in hospital.
Wayne Dears, 51, had been in a critical condition at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital’s intensive care unit since the accident.
“The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 51-year-old Wayne Dears of Hamilton Parish and extends condolences to his family and friends,” a police spokesman said today.
“Mr Dears was seriously injured in a reported single-vehicle motorcycle collision that occurred around 12.10am on Thursday, October 16, on South Road, Devonshire, near the junction with Tee Street.
“A family liaison officer has been assigned to Mr Dears’s family to assist them at this difficult time.
“A full investigation into this fatal collision is under way and police continue to appeal for any witnesses who have not already come forward, especially persons that may have information regarding the whereabouts of Mr Dears in the hours prior to 12.10am on Thursday, October 16.”
Witnesses should contact the investigating officer, PC Ian Scotton, on 295-0011.
