Woman, 53, accused of handling crime money
A 53-year-old woman has been accused of handling money believed to be the proceeds of crime.
Dianna Lucille Tucker, from Coral Hill Lane, Warwick, appeared in Magistrates’ Court this morning and pleaded not guilty to facilitating the retention or control of the proceeds of criminal conduct by crediting cash deposits totalling $17,200 to the bank account of Nicky Tucker, and knowing or suspecting that they were the proceeds of crime.
The incident was said to have been between July 28 and October 1, 2012.
Ms Tucker also denied allegedly using the proceeds of crime — $15,000 in cash — to obtain bank cashier cheques and depositing them into the account of Hilgrove Robinson as part-payment of a mortgage debt, with the charge dating back to May 28, 2010.
She did not have to submit a plea because the charges are indictable and must be heard in the Supreme Court.
Magistrate Archibald Warner adjourned the case until November 14 for mention and granted Ms Tucker $5,000 with one surety.
Ms Tucker is being represented by Elizabeth Christopher.
