BIOS expert to join storm discussion
Dr Mark Guishard is to join the panellists at a roundtable discussion about lessons learnt from last month’s storms.
The programme manager for the Risk Prediction Initiative at Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences is a former director of the Bermuda Weather Service.
The panel discussion on Thursday, being organised by Imagine Bermuda, will focus on the social implications of the storms, and Dr Guishard will use a slide presentation to sum up what the Island experienced.
Also due to take part is Bishop Nicholas Dill of the Anglican Church, Family Centre executive director Martha Dismont, Chewstick’s Gavin Smith and Rev Nicholas Tweed of St Paul’s AME Church
As well as the roundtable, from 11.30am until 1pm at Cathedral Hall on Church Street, Hamilton, Imagine Bermuda is calling on the community to reflect on the storms and how the Island pulled together. Residents are urged to pause for one minute for reflection on Thursday at 1pm.
Imagine Bermuda said the events aimed to further promote the sense of appreciation evident at last week’s thanksgiving gathering at City Hall, at which the community expressed their gratitude to those who worked to keep the Island safe and functioning during and after the storms, such as the Bermuda Regiment, the emergency services and Belco.
