More Bermudians seeking financial help
The number of Bermudians seeking help from financial assistance has increased, according to Community Minister Wayne Scott.
Meanwhile, the Minister noted that 41 people had their assistance revoked in the first nine months of this year owing to stricter regulations.
Responding to questions from Shadow Minister Michael Weeks, Mr Scott said $43 million was given out between October 1, 2012 and September 30, 2013, while $46 million was given during the same period the next year.
For 2012 to 2013, the numbers of recipients per month ranged from 2,280 to 2,776. For the period between 2013 and 2014, that figure stood at 2,645 to 2,919 per month.
Seniors and the disabled accounted for 60 per cent of financial aid recipients, according to the Minister.
