A 67-year-old man was injured yesterday after his car struck a utility pole on Middle Road.

According to a Police Spokesman, officers were dispatched to the scene of a single-vehicle collision at around 4pm yesterday, near the junction of Middle Road and Granaway Lane in Southampton.

“It appears that a car being driven along Middle Road collided with a utility pole,” the spokesman said.

“The driver, a 67-year-old Warwick man, was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for medical assessment as a precaution. He was later discharged.

“There were no other injuries reported, however the vehicle involved received extensive front end damage.”
