Bermuda’s first Redhead duck sighting in nearly 30 years was reported this weekend by the Bermuda Audubon Society.
The drake was spotted swimming at Port Royal by naturalist David Wingate, and photographed by Andrew Dobson.
A native of the marshes of the North American west, the diving duck Aythya americana migrates far during the winters, including the Caribbean, but has not been spotted in Bermuda since 1987.
