A schoolgirl has denied assaulting a fellow student.

Shimea Irving, 16 appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday. Wearing her school uniform, she denied assault causing actual bodily harm.

The alleged incident was at the Berkeley Institute on May 28 this year.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo granted her $2,000 bail but said that because of her age she could not legally sign the bail for herself.

The matter is expected to return to the court next week to be mentioned.
