A basketball team is fundraising for a trip to Canada with a bake sale this weekend.

The Basketball Academy for Girls, a division of Coach Bullet Basketball, will be collecting donations outside the Modern Mart on Saturday from 9am to 5pm for the Montreal trip in April 2015.

“Our aim is to expose our girls to a higher level of basketball,” said Erna DeGraff, the mother of one of the players. “We need someone to partner with us.”

The same team recently took part in October’s Breast Cancer Fun Walk, with parents and coaches raising $580 for the Breast Cancer and Health Centre.

The academy was named one of the top fundraising teams taking part in the event at an awards ceremony last month.
