Police this afternoon discovered — and destroyed — an old artillery shell discovered in the Mission Road area of Paget.

A Police spokeswoman said: “Today the Bermuda Police Service came upon an old small artillery shell in the area of South Road, Paget, and Mission Road.

“In the abundance of caution, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit (EOD) detonated the explosive in a controlled environment around 5.30pm.

“The Bermuda Police Service thanks the area residents for their understanding and patience during this time.”
