Assistance: The pilot boat St David
The bulk carrier Aargau made an emergency stop in Bermuda on Monday night after the ship’s captain was injured.
The Croatian national suffered back, wrist and leg injuries after a fall on board.
He was said to be in a stable condition when he arrived in Bermuda at about 7.30pm.
The pilot boat, St David, sailed out to meet the vessel so that the injured sailor could be taken to Penno’s Wharf and then on to the hospital.
The ship, which was transporting a cargo of petroleum coke from Lake Charles in the US to Foynes in Ireland, continued on her way once the captain had been safely transferred to the pilot boat.
