Paws to the Park event announced
Hundreds of dogs and their owners will “take to the park” on March 1 for a popular community event being organised by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
The Paws to the Park event invites dog owners and their dogs to take part in the fundraising effort that starts with a one or three-mile dog walk starting at St Paul’s Church in Paget.
There will be a host of other activities throughout the day, including vendor booths, the Wetnose Photoboot, raffle prizes and a dog wash.
Hundreds are expected to take part in the walk, which will raise funds to save the lives of homeless dogs, cats and other animals.
This year the SPCA is looking to raise a total of $10,000 this year. Registration is $35 per person for ages 14 and over and the SPCA asks for participants to aim to raise a minimum of $50 in pledges.
The first 100 people to register will receive a free tote bag and there will be incentives for everyone who raises the qualifying amount of funds. The public can also support the event by donating an item for draws and giveaways to promote a business or sponsor the event and a business logo posted along the walk route.
