College students receive financial award
Seventeen Bermuda College students today received a financial boost to help fund their studies.
The awards were sponsored by 15 community benefactors, who recently donated $20,000 to the college, and were presented to the students during the college’s In-House Awards ceremony.
Bermuda College President Dr Duranda Greene said that sponsorship went a “long way” for students during the current economic climate, especially in the purchase of costly text books.
“No matter how large or small the gift,” she added, “we are appreciative of every sponsor who invests in our students and who has continued to support them over the years.”
Dr Greene also gave special mention to a new in-house award for “culinary consistency” — donated by Eron Woods (Class of 2014).
She added that Mr Woods, as a new alumnus, was quick to give back to the college so soon after graduating.
Mr Woods, who graduated with an Associate in Applied Science (Culinary Arts), is now in his third year at Johnson & Wales.
