Truck driver arrested on suspicion of DUI
The truck driver that collided with a wall on Saturday afternoon has been arrested on suspicion of driving while impaired.
Police said in a statement they believe that the truck and possibly two or three other vehicles were involved in the incident on Middle Road in Devonshire near the junction with Hermitage Road at 1.30pm. The truck eventually collided with a wall outside the Bermuda Squash Racquets Association.
Both the truck driver, said to be a 24-year-old Pembroke man, and passenger are believed to have been injured, as well as a few bystanders.
Some were taken to hospital for treatment and initial information suggests that no injuries are considered life-threatening or serious.
The truck driver was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving and a court appearance is due.
Inquiries into this collision are continuing and witnesses should contact the main police telephone number at 295-0011.
Police have also issued a clarification stating that four males suspected of armed robbery dressed in dark clothing were actually brandishing bladed weapons.
They gained entry into a residence on Deepdale Road, Pembroke, between 7.30pm and 9pm last Friday and later escaped with items from the house.
Police say that the four occupants of the home confronted by the intruders were not injured.
