Students to host art, wine-tasting event
Students at Warwick Academy are holding an art auction and wine-tasting event to help raise money for the Alumni Scholarship and Bursary Fund.
Year 12 art students were asked to create paintings to be sold at the event on Friday at the Ace Gallery in Hamilton.
A spokeswoman for Warwick Academy said: “The result was an amazing, diverse range of art pieces that are now hung in the Ace Gallery with pride.
“In addition to the students’ art there are wonderful pieces that have been donated by local artists that are either alumni, related to alumni or just friends of Warwick Academy that kindly have joined the cause.”
These artists include Jonah Jones, Sheilagh Head, Molly Godet, Emma Ingham, Tina Hutchings, Steven Masters, Maria Evers-Smith, Michele Smith, Lee Petty and Wendell Hollis.
There are more than 50 pieces of original artwork in watercolour, acrylic or oil, along with limited-edition prints and photography.
Before the art auction, alumnus John Sharpe, of Two Rock Wines, will be hosting a wine tasting where guests will be able to try six wines carefully selected for the evening. Two Rock Wines has a collection of wines that are sourced from around the world.
Tickets for the wine tasting are $25 and are available via www.warwick.bm by clicking on “Wine Tasting”. Tickets are also available by e-mailing jvickers@warwick.bm or tmcdowell@warwick.bm. The event starts at 5.30pm and is followed by a free art auction at 7pm.
