Aubrey Pennyman appointed registrar general
Aubrey Pennyman has been appointed as registrar general assuming responsibility for the overall management and operation of Government’s Registry General Department.
The department includes the planning and development policy and legislative programmes on behalf of the ministry while providing information and assistance to the Minister and permanent secretary of Home Affairs.
Mr Pennyman achieved an LLB in Law from the University of Kent in 1998 and earned a Post Graduate Certificate in Intellectual Property Law from Queen Mary, University of London.
He has worked for Government since 2000, starting at the Registrar of Companies as a registration agent responsible for company registrations and incorporations before becoming a trademark examiner. He then became a trademark officer where his duties included the examination of applications, training of staff and supervision of the Intellectual Property Section. He was later promoted to assistant registrar (Intellectual Properties) where his responsibilities included examining applications and management of the Intellectual Property Section.
Mr Pennyman has most recently served as the Acting Registrar General.
