Britain’s Mark Wylie was crowned as champion of the Bermuda International Town Crier Competition.

This competition brought together 25 hopeful town criers from Britain and Canada along with their escorts to Bermuda to compete for a number of awards. In addition, the City of Hamilton also hosted a Junior Town Crier competition, including four participants from several middle schools.

Criers were judged on sustained volume from a 20-metre distance, clarity heard throughout their cry, diction, inflection, bearing and confidence pertaining to the manner in which the crier moves, and the content of the cry with adherence to the required subject.

Junior Town Crier champion: Dequan Trott (Dellwood Middle School)

Junior Town Crier runner-up: Ayanna Peniston (Mount Saint Agnes Academy)
