Weather forces cruise ship to divert

Weather conditions have forced cruise ship Caribbean Princess to bypass Bermuda and continue its passage to Mexico. .
The liner was expected to arrive at daybreak in Dockyard and spend the day before departing at 5pm, but strong winds with gale force gusts are forecast.
A Government spokeswoman said the diversion was due to “forecast berthing conditions”.
She added: “They are bypassing their planned Bermuda visit and heading directly to Ponta Delgada.”
The Caribbean Princess was launched in 2004 and is notable for a giant poolside movie theatre featuring first-run movies, concerts and sporting events.
