Sick crew member on ARC rally boat
The condition of a sick crew member on board one of the boats sailing to Bermuda as part of the ARC Europe and ARC USA 2015 rallies has improved.
According to a spokesman for the Department of Maritime Operations, they were notified on Tuesday evening of a crew member on board the Aislig Bheag suffering from vomiting, headaches and a possible fever.
“The crew member is much better than he was 24 hours ago; he’s back on a normal diet and drinking plenty of fluids,” the spokesman said this evening. “He’s in much better spirits.”
He added that cold compresses and electrolytes were administered as advised by the US Coast Guard flight surgeon and that all symptoms, aside from dizzy spells, had abated.
The Aislig Bheag, which departed the British Virgin Islands on Sunday, will continue on to Bermuda and is due to arrive at noon tomorrow.
