Traffic advisory for derby day
Residents and visitors with early travel plans on Monday are being reminded to allow extra time for getting to the airport because of possible traffic disruptions caused by the Appleby Bermuda Half-Marathon Derby.
Those travelling to and from the East End are also urged to be aware of possible delays.
This year’s race begins on Duke of York Street, St George’s, and the route takes in Kindley Field Road, the Causeway, Blue Hole Hill, North Shore Road, Flatts Bridge, Middle Road, Front Street, Queen Street, Church Street, Cedar Avenue and Marsh Folly, finishing at Bernard Park on Dutton Avenue.
“This will significantly impact on traffic, especially for those who live in the East End as well as those intending to travel to the East End on Monday, May 25,” a Police spokesman said.
“In particular, we would like to advise persons who are travelling on the early morning flights on May 25 to make arrangements to be at the LF Wade International Airport by 8am.”
Full details of road closures and other information about the Bermuda Day holiday weekend will be provided by Police tomorrow.
