Premier delivers a Bermuda Day message
Premier Michael Dunkley has extended well wishes to the public on the eve of the Bermuda Day holiday.
In a statement, Mr Dunkley said: “May is traditionally known as Heritage Month. It’s a time where we reflect on and highlight our rich and diverse culture.
“The preservation and sustainability of Bermuda’s cultural legacy is vital to all of us knowing, appreciating and embracing our history, as this is what binds us together as Bermudians.
“The Bermuda Day festivities, provide an excellent opportunity to showcase our unique heritage. In fact, there’s nothing quite like this exciting occasion. I will be joining residents and visitors in watching the Bermuda Day Parade along Front Street, and I’m truly looking forward to celebrating and enjoying this annual event.”
Mr Dunkley also said this year’s theme, Bermuda: An Atlantic Garden, was fitting as it allows the Island to celebrate its waters and proud maritime history.
This year’s theme is Bermuda: An Atlantic Garden.
Mr Dunkley closed by wishing all half marathon runners, inline skaters, fitted dinghy sailors and Sinclair Packwood cyclists the “best of luck” during their respective events tomorrow, adding: “To all of those who will be spending the holiday either at the parade, at the beach, boating or simply relaxing at home, on behalf of the Bermuda Government, have a safe and wonderful Bermuda Day!”
