PLP praises Bermuda’s ‘dedicated’ footballers
The Progressive Labour Party last night paid tribute to Bermuda’s national footballers after their World Cup campaign came to an end.
Bermuda lost 1-0 to Guatemala on Monday, to exit the competition at the second round qualifying stage by a single goal on aggregate.
Shadow Minister of Sport Michael Weeks said in a statement: “On behalf of the Progressive Labour Party, I would like to thank the coaches, players and administration for their hard work and dedication during this World Cup campaign.
“While we unfortunately were ousted last night, we must continue the training and hard work between this campaign and the next, so that the relationship between coaches and players is maintained and so that our players continue to go from strength to strength.
“We have every confidence that, in four years’ time, Bermuda will represent on the international stage successfully.”
