Student scores top marks in Baccalaureate
A Warwick Academy student has become the first at the school to earn the highest possible results in the International Baccalaureate Programme.
Fiona Dobson scored 45 out of a possible 45 points, putting her in the top 0.3 per cent of students.
According to principal Maggie McCorkell, she is also the second student at the school to achieve direct entry into undergraduate study at Cambridge University.
“Warwick Academy is very proud to report that the school’s graduating class of 2015 achieved outstanding overall results in the International Baccalaureate Programme,” she said.
“The graduating class achieved a 92 per cent diploma pass rate and a 100 per cent pass rate in the individual subjects.”
“In addition the schools’ average diploma score is 32.88 points per student — our best to date.
With the worldwide average placed at 30 points this is a very valid measure with which to benchmark the strength of the programme at the school and it is inclusive of all students not only those at the top end.”
She also highlighted the success of several other students, including Olivia Moore who scored 42 points, Phoebe Dill who earned 41 points and Daniel Hetzel who earned 40 points.
Amelia Oatley and Brianna Siddle both scored 37 points, while Evan Watkins and Kyra Dunstan earned 36 points.
Mrs McCorkell congratulated the students and staff for the results, saying: “These excellent results are the culmination of commitment, hard work, time management and effort by both the students and their teachers.”
