Dunkley dismisses affidavit allegations
Michael Dunkley, the Premier, has dismissed serious allegations made in a leaked affidavit as “outrageous and completely unfounded”.
Sections of a sworn affidavit by developer Michael MacLean, were read on the air on Wednesday on the Sherri J Show. Allegations made in the affidavit have subsequently been repeated by other news outlets, however The Royal Gazette has decided not to publish the allegations at this time owing to legal reasons.
In an e-mail to colleagues sent after the broadcast and since released to the public, the Premier called the airing of the affidavit a “gross violation of court procedure and conduct” and said that the claims within it were “ludicrous”.
He wrote: “This document contains outrageous and completely unfounded accusations.”
Mr MacLean is involved in a legal dispute with the Bermuda Government over the Par-la-Ville and waterfront developments in Hamilton.
The Bermuda Police Service has declined to comment on the allegations, stating that an investigation is under way.
