Saltus students hit top marks
Two students and Saltus Grammar School are celebrating after achieving near perfect examination marks in nine different subjects.
Daniel Oatley and Nicholas Pell averaged a score of 4.67 out of a possible five in their Advanced Placement examinations, one of the largest high-level school examinations in the world.
Both are headed to the UK for university: Daniel is going to Warwick to study economics, and Nicholas to Loughborough for engineering physics.
They were named alongside Calum Maule and Jonathan Speight as National AP Scholar (Bermuda), which is granted to students on the Island who receive an average score of at least 4 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 4 or higher on five or more of these exams.
Overall, students at Saltus achieved above the overall global average in the AP exams and outgoing Head of School Claire Charlemagne said: “I am extremely proud of all the students who sat the AP exams.
“They all worked extremely hard and should be very proud of themselves. I am sure that as they go through university they will do extremely well and make us proud of their achievements.”
Rigorously developed by committees of college and AP high school faculty, the AP exams test students’ ability to perform at a college level and are governed by the US College Board.
