Runaway horses damage vehicles
Witnesses have described the hair-raising moment when about six horses came charging out the gates of Spicelands Riding Centre.
The spooked animals were said to have damaged two cars and narrowly avoided hitting a cyclist along Middle Road, Warwick.
“My friend Dereika and I were scared for our lives and no one called to apologise for the damage,” onlooker Melique Cox told The Royal Gazette. “Two horses flipped over my car, hit the car behind me and almost hit a person on a bike, I believe. I’m lucky my daughter wasn’t in the car.”
The horses involved in last Tuesday’s incident caused dents and scratches to Ms Cox’s car, left blood on another and frightened other road users.
Both vehicles pulled over into the car park of St Anthony’s Church and called Police.
The owner of Spicelands Riding Centre, Lisa Outerbridge, said calls about escaped horses were not uncommon.
“On this occasion, there was only slight damage,” she said. “There was a faulty gate that has now been repaired.”
The Royal Gazette contacted the Bermuda Police Service for more details but no more information was provided.
