Belco hands out $200,000 in student awards
More than $200,000 in awards were given to Bermudian students at the Bermuda Electric Light Company’s annual presentation.
Taking place at Belco headquarters, a wide range of scholarships, bursaries and awards were handed to those aiming towards higher education.
Among those awards were $25,000 scholarships, educational awards ranging from $2,500 to $15,000, bursaries for Bermuda College students worth $1,000 per year and maths awards worth $750 each for high school seniors.

Denton Williams, Belco’s chief operating officer, said in a statement: “It gives Belco great pleasure each year to assist Bermudian students in their quest to further their education.
“The individuals chosen to receive Belco educational awards and scholarships have demonstrated their exceptional abilities and eagerness to pursue careers in the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields, as well as the business, commerce and arts fields.
“They’ve also proven that they’re committed to making a real contribution to our community, and we truly believe that Bermuda needs the expertise that they will gain during their studies. We congratulate the 2015/16 award recipients, and wish them well both in their studies and as they pursue their careers.”
