A slick of diesel fuel that appeared to have leaked from a boat covered the surface through Dockyard’s marina yesterday. “It’s oily, so it’s not just dissipating — it’s spread all through the marina to the other side of the camber,” an area resident said.

Diesel, which does not mix with water, is harmful to birds and fish. Unlike heavier oil, it will evaporate gradually.

The matter was referred to Bermuda Maritime Operations.
