Saltus to host open house

Graduate students are being invited to a Saltus Grammar School open house about how to prepare to get into university.

The information session on Thursday is for years 12 and 13 students who are considering finishing their last two years of high school and are looking for university preparation.

Deputy head and Director of Advancement, Jon Beard, said in a statement: “This will obviously involve Saltus students, but it is also of real interest to students from other schools.

“Students will learn about the subjects on offer in these years, and especially about the advanced placement courses. These very high-level courses give students credit at North American universities and are used for entry to UK universities.”

The information session will open with a fair in which Saltus staff will man tables to give information about their particular subject: requirements to join the course, its content and its application for university courses.

After the fair the Director of Upper School, Nicole Chichon-deSilva, will lead a presentation about the programme.

Mr Beard added: “The session is for students from all schools who are interested in a university preparatory education for their final two years of high school.

“While this is the usual course for Saltus students we have also welcomed, over the years, students from all of Bermuda’s schools onto the programme, and look forward to doing so again this year.”

The subject fair takes place from 4pm to 5pm in the Alumni Hall on the St John’s Road level of the school. The presentation begins at 5.15pm in the SGY Reiss Centre, on the second floor of the Goose Gosling building.
