Families receive festive treats
Deserving families flocked to Cobbs Hill Methodist Church for the Free Food Bermuda giveaway.
The event last week concluded the community initiative’s 12 Days of Christmas programme, in which families were paired with sponsors to receive all manner of festive treats.
More than 40 food hampers were handed out during the second annual giveaway, which ran from 11am to 12.30pm on December 23, as well as toys for children and shopping vouchers.
“I’m left in awe,” said Nesi Armstrong, the founder of Free Food Bermuda and chief executive of organic food importing business, Island Organics Ltd.
“Every time I looked around there were more people coming in.
“Mothers were crying in gratitude. We just held their hands and said a word of prayer with them.”
While speaking to The Royal Gazette in the afternoon, Mrs Armstrong was continuing to deliver goodies to those in need who were unable to make the event.
“The energy has been one of absolute love,” she added.
“We just want to create an atmosphere of hope for the New Year.”
