Two injured in New Year's Day crashes
Road incidents in the early hours of the new year, both in Paget, included two serious crashes involving motorcycles.
A 28-year-old man was continuing to undergo treatment for serious head injuries today after his auxiliary cycle struck a wall at about 3am on New Year’s Day. The crash occurred on Middle Road, near the junction with Friths Farm Road, as the man travelled in east.
He was taken to the Intensive Care Unit at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital. At about 5.30pm today, police said he remained in a critical but stable condition.
In another incident, at about 2am, a motorcycle and a car collided on South Road, near the junction with Rural Drive.
Witnesses reported that the car subsequently left the scene but was stopped by police, while the motorcyclist was taken by ambulance to hospital.
