Park to be used for bridge storage

A section of Kindley Field Park is being set aside as a storage area for a Bailey bridge being constructed for the swing bridge across Ferry Reach.
About 750ft of the park, next to the swing bridge, will be used for this purpose for about six weeks, the Ministry of Public Works and the Department of Parks said yesterday.
The East End crossing has been reduced to a single lane since December, due to serious corrosion which has also meant vehicles heavier than ten tonnes are off limits.
A Bermuda Government spokeswoman said yesterday: “Every effort will be made to minimise inconvenience to the public who we thank for their patience in this matter.”
