Career seminar for those aged over 50
Age Concern will be holding a seminar tomorrow to help people aged over 50 with career and life decisions.
Bermuda Executive Services will making the presentation, “Reinvent Yourself After 50”, on changes in the employment market for the older generation.
Bill Zuill, a director of BES, said in a statement: “People aged 50 or older in Bermuda have seen dramatic changes in the workplace since they first started working and, for some, they have found themselves looking for a job a or a career change for the first time in their lives.
“This is the generation which started with typewriters and telexes and are now using iPads and smart phones to do their work.
“The talk will deal with some of the misconceptions about this generation and will also give practical advice on how they should go about looking for jobs if they have found themselves out of work.
“The good news is that unemployment in this age group has dropped from about 9 per cent to about 4 per cent since 2014, but that does not make it easier for those who are looking for work. We are looking forward to an open discussion about employment and opportunities.”
The event takes place at 10am at Bermuda College.
