Butterfield Bank has made six management-level employees in Bermuda redundant in a restructuring move.
Bank spokesman Mark Johnson told The Royal Gazette that a further 12 workers lost their jobs in the Cayman Islands and Guernsey, although Butterfield Bank employees in Switzerland, the Bahamas and London were unaffected.
“The bank redefined some rules and responsibilities within certain areas,” Mr Johnson said. “With that move, certain positions in various departments were no longer required within the bank.
“We informed our employees yesterday internally.”
