The Centre on Philanthropy will be hosting its fifth biennial Third Sector Conference, ‘Building Hope’, on Friday.

The event at The Hamilton Princess will bring together non-profit staff, board members, volunteers, donors, private sector partners, faith-based organisations, government and public sector workers and social entrepreneurs.

They will receive advice from experts and discuss the role of charities in addressing social needs.

A number of speakers will unveil hot topics, while a moderated panel discussion, involving Kumi Bradshaw, Larry Burchall, Caroline Foulger and Craig Simmons, will discuss the economy and its effects on the third sector.

Ian Williams and Lorna Pearcey, from Caplor Horizons in Britain, will address capacity-building and collaboration in Bermuda.

Breakout sessions include Cristina Wineinger, the fundraising guru, Rochelle Simons of the Institute of Directors and Richard Ambrosio of Charities Commission. There will also be workshops on communicating for best results led by Jennifer Outerbridge-Smith and Digital Strategies by the Brand Lion.

Anyone interested in or involved in the third sector should attend. The cost to attend all plenary and breakout sessions, including refreshments and a buffet luncheon, is $200 for members and $225 for non-members. There is also an opportunity for charities to apply for a scholarship to attend.
