Families enjoy Heron Bay Fun Day
Heron Bay Primary continued its 90th anniversary celebrations on Saturday with a Family Fun Day.
The event, which ran from noon until 4pm, drew around 100 people to the Southampton School, where they enjoyed food, games, bouncy castles and music.
Principal Lisa Swan said that the event has been a smashing success and a fitting way to celebrate the school’s long history.
“So far it’s been really good. Everybody has been having a lot of fun,” she said. “It’s all about the kids, it’s all about the students and they’ve all been having a great time.”
Heron Bay Primary began its existence as Southampton East School, operating out of what was originally a private home. It remained a private school with just 34 students until 1925, when the Bermuda Government took it over.
The school was built on its present site in 1953, although the old dwelling remained in use for a period before it was demolished in 1967.
