Progressive Labour Party MP Kim Wilson handed out scores of pancakes last night to raise funds to help a constituent buy a new motorised wheelchair.

Ms Wilson’s annual Shrove Tuesday pancake fundraiser attracted dozens from across Sandys and beyond who donated money for the community campaign to help Ralph Burrows, pictured right with son Kijaun Bean, get a new wheelchair.

The Sandys South Central MP spent the day preparing for the feast before serving up banana, blueberry and plain pancakes at the Allen Temple AME Church in Sandys in the evening. It is the third year Ms Wilson has hosted the event.

“Last year, we raised money for the Allen Temple Church’s feeding programme, while the year before the funds went towards Sandys 360,” she said. “Ralph is well known in the community and for his presence on social media and helping to get him a new wheelchair is a very worthwhile cause.”

Mr Burrows was left paralysed after a shooting in 2010 when he was mistaken for someone else by the gunman.
