A photography competition held by Petals to celebrate Valentine’s Day has been hailed as a great success.

The winning entry submitted by Christine Debraga was announced on the store’s Facebook page on Sunday evening.

“We were very pleased with the entries we had,” said Nikki Begg, the owner of Petals. “It was hugely successful.”

Ms Begg added that the entries presented a “wonderful cross-section” of the island’s community.

The winning photograph shows Mrs Debraga and her son Ashton, 3, whom she describes as “one of my four true loves”, sharing a milkshake.

“I feel blessed to have won as my children are truly my world and my true loves,” Mrs Debraga said. “I have an amazing, loving husband and four kids.

“Ashton immediately came to mind when I saw the article as he is the one to continuously compliment me and shower me with his love all of the time.

“He randomly tells me I’m so beautiful and he loves me so much daily.”

The competition was launched last Wednesday and invited people to send in photographs that conveyed the emotion of love.
