Governors gather in Bermuda
The Governors of five UK Overseas Territories in the Caribbean were hosted by Bermuda Governor, George Fergusson, last week for a regular meeting of regional governors.
Mr Fergusson explained that such meetings were held three or four times a year to discuss a range of matters.
“Usually these meetings are in Miami or London, but we try to meet once a year in one of the Territories,” added Mr Fergusson. “I am really delighted to welcome my colleagues here.”
During their visit, each of the Governors were invited to plant a fruit tree at Government House.
Those attending were: Ms Christina Scott, Governor of Anguilla; Mr John Duncan, Governor of the British Virgin Islands; Ms Helen Kilpatrick, Governor of the Cayman Islands; Ms Elizabeth Carriere, Governor of Montserrat; Mr Peter Beckingham, Governor of the Turks and Caicos Islands.
Also visiting was Dr Peter Hayes, Director of the Overseas Territories Directorate.
