Tsunami response exercise planned

Bermuda will participate in a tsunami response exercise tomorrow to test its readiness for such a disaster.
The initiative, titled ‘Caribe Wave 16’, will simulate an earthquake off the northern coast of Hispaniola.
The resulting exercise tsunami wave will affect Bermuda, as well as other jurisdictions in the Atlantic and Caribbean.
Exercise warnings will be posted across media including www.weather.bm and the Bermuda Weather Service’s Facebook page.
Bermuda was last hit by a tsunami in November 1929, originating off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada.
