Woman ‘seriously injured’ in road accident

Police attended two traffic accidents on Saturday evening, one of which left a woman with serious injuries.

The first incident saw officers arrive at North Shore Road in Devonshire, 200 metres east of Barkers Hill, at 6.27pm.

Bermuda Police Service spokesman Dwayne Caines said: “It appears that a female lost control of her car and made contact with the wooden guard rail.

“The woman was assisted out of her car by a man who lived in the area and escaped with minor injuries to her body.

“Minutes later she was arrested and taken to Hamilton Police Station where she was processed.”

The second incident saw two vehicles collide on Middle Road, in the area of Store Hill, with officers arriving at the scene at 9.07pm.

Mr Caines said: “It appears that a woman lost control of her vehicle and collided with a woman in car travelling in the opposite direction.

“This resulted in one of the women being pinned in her car, with the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service being called to extricate the woman out of her vehicle.

“She was then conveyed to the hospital where she is being treated for serious injuries. The other woman was also taken to the hospital for treatment, and her injuries appear to be minor.

If you have any information on either incident, contact police on 295-0011.
