Street Food Festival postponed to Sunday
Tomorrow’s Street Food Festival has been postponed because of high winds forecast for the morning.
A spokeswoman for the City of Hamilton stated that the event on Front Street will instead take place on Sunday from 3pm to 9pm.
“Winds of 20 to 25 knots are predicted for Saturday morning, which prohibits the set-up of tents and activities along Front Street,” she said.
“Organisers have spoken with Bermuda Weather Service before making this difficult decision.”
The free Street Food Festival is the culmination of the week-long City Food Festival in Hamilton.
It involves up to 20 local restaurants, local artisans and ‘foodies’, eating contests and a Bermuda dish competition.
“This is where locals bring samples of their homemade fish chowder, rum swizzle, chicken wings, loquat recipe or other Bermudian cuisine,” the spokeswoman said.
And the final of the City Food Festival Chef Competition will take place at 5pm in car park number five and on Front Street, between Burnaby Street and Parliament Street.
“The whole day promises to be a fun family-focused event where the public can try different foods from many participating vendors,” the spokeswoman added.
