A 53-year old woman is in critical condition after being hit by a car in St George’s last night.

The accident happened at the junction of Mullet Bay Road and Rocky Hill Park just after 11.30pm.

A police spokesman said the woman, who has not been named, was crossing the road when she was struck by a car heading west.

He added: “The woman was taken to hospital where her condition appears to be very serious.”

The area was cordoned off while police officers investigated at the scene, but reopened around 1.45am.

At 11.40am, police said the woman remained in a critical condition at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.
