Charity plans outreach day at Dolphin Quest
“Bigs and Littles” will be able to bond and make some new memories at a special community outreach day at Dolphin Quest next Saturday.
Charity Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bermuda has teamed up with Dolphin Quest and Bonefish Bar and Grill to offer the educational experience.
“All of our Littles and Bigs are invited. It’s really fun and something that they can enjoy together,” Patrina O’Connor-Paynter, the BBBS managing director, told The Royal Gazette.
“It’s definitely a bonding experience for them as they participate in games and activities while learning about something new,” she said, adding that it will also give “bigs and littles” a chance to make new memories.
There will be an educational tour and dolphin demonstration, as well as marine themed activities and games.
Ms O’Connor-Paynter said: “Learning about the ocean around them is very important. I believe that Dolphin Quest does a phenomenal job of educating children while making it fun and interactive at the same time.
“Us joining together for something like this is very meaningful as we want our Littles to understand the importance of conserving our ocean and protecting the creatures that live in it.”
She added: “I’m very excited about this partnership and have made plans to be there. It’s awesome to see all of us working together to make a difference in children’s lives. When Bonefish Grill also got involved I was really moved. This event is for Big Brothers Big Sisters children only which makes them feel extra special and important.”
The group will meet in Hamilton on April 23 and catch the 10am ferry to Dockyard, where they will spend the morning at Dolphin Quest before having lunch at Bonefish bar and grill.
“It’s something different and educational for the children to do. I think every child should have the opportunity to experience Dolphin Quest and what it has to offer.
“I was surprised as we had quite a few children that had never been to Dolphin Quest before. We are definitely going to change that.”
