Robots will be taking over the National Sports Centre on Saturday, as part of an interschool competition.
The Remotely Operated Vehicle Challenge will feature 28 teams from 9 Bermudian middle schools, as they pilot the robotic vehicles they have built on a series of missions.
This year’s theme is “From the Gulf of Mexico to Jupiter’s Moon Europa: ROV Encounters in Inner and Outer Space”, as the machines collect samples from environments mimicking deep sea and outer space.
Students will also earn points based on a marketing poster and team interviews about their ROV.
The event, sponsored by the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences, begins at 9am and is free to attend.
