St David’s gets into Father’s Day spirit
Fathers and father figures enjoyed a special breakfast at St David’s Primary School today.
The St George’s Parish Council hosted its annual Pre-Fathers’ Day Breakfast at the school for the first time, having previously held the event at East End Primary School.
Kristin White, of the council, said: “It was a very hands on affair, with our chairman, Thomas Harvey, up early in the morning preparing all of the scrambled eggs and sausages, and other members of the council and community helping to make pancakes.
“All of the council came to the event to set up and serve food and a few additional volunteers came as well.
“The parish council and school principal were very pleased by the turnout, as the majority of students had family members present. Students seemed excited to get a hot breakfast and to spend time with their family.
“As we were serving one small girl, she told us, proudly pointing, ‘This is my daddy.’ It was a heart-warming moment.
“We know that strong families are the foundation of strong communities, and so the parish council sees this event and others that connect families together, even if just for breakfast, as a crucial part of our mission.”
