The 23-year-old motorcyclist who collided with a van yesterday in Southampton is in a critical condition, police have revealed.

Police say it appears that the motorcycle was travelling east, when it collided with a van travelling in the opposite direction at about 3.25pm at the junction of Horseshoe Road and Palm Valley.

After being taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, the male rider remains in intensive care.

Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them on 295-0011.
