Winning fans: Thirdstory’s Ben Lusher, Richard Saunders and Elliot Skinner

A New York following continues to grow for Thirdstory, an R & B/folk trio including Bermudian singer Ben Lusher, which has just been featured in the New York Post.

Thirdstory kicked off the Bermuda Festival in January, and have most recently been covered for the success of their song G Train, which spins metaphors from one of the city’s oft-maligned subway routes.

The group toured earlier in the year with American songstress Tori Kelly and have kept busy since. The latest tour includes a sold-out show tonight in Williamsburg, Mr Lusher’s own neighbourhood.

The other members are Elliot Skinner and Richard Saunders. The three won high praise for their vocals at the Bermuda Festival, and have been consistently well received since.

New York’s subway has a storied musical history: Duke Ellington’s Take the “A” Train, or Downtown Train by Tom Waits. Thirdstory’s creation uses the theme of an erratic service between Brooklyn and Manhattan to describe love and relationships. According to the Post, the song is “making waves” with listeners.

Members live in different New York neighbourhoods — which ensures plenty of subway travel.
