Boy injured in North Shore accident
An eight-year-old boy has been injured after a motorcycle struck him and then left the scene yesterday near West Pembroke Primary School.
While his condition was initially believed to be serious, police later downgraded their assessment, and said an update should come this morning. According to a police spokesman, the child was crossing the road when he was knocked down.
The driver stopped and spoke to him before driving off. The incident, at about 4.40pm, occurred on North Shore Road near the junction with Princess Estates Road.
Traffic was diverted until the evening as officers dealt with the scene.
EMTs treated the injured boy on site before he was taken in an ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, where he remained overnight for observation.
The driver is asked to come forward, and witnesses are urged to contact the main police number, 295-0011.
