Talented teen to perform at church’s Christmas Cantata

Voice of an angel: Bobby Hill

An American teenager who sang for the Pope will now display his talents at the Allen Temple AME Church’s annual Christmas Cantata.

Fifteen-year-old Bobby Hill of Philadelphia was described by Pope John Francis as having “the voice of an angel” when he performed before the pontiff in June, 2015.

The youngster achieved worldwide acclaim when he was asked to deliver an impromptu a cappella vocal performance for Pope Francis at The Festival of Families during the Pope’s visit to the United States.

Since that event, Bobby, who was a member of the Keystone State Boys’ Choir, has been in demand both locally and internationally and has just released a Christmas CD which he recorded in Prague with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra (www.bobbywhill.com).

The Bermuda event on December 15 will be held at the Heritage Worship Centre in Hamilton when the Allen Temple Senior Choir and Friends of Sandys will deliver the cantata, A Midnight Clear, under the direction of Daniel Hill.

Starting at 8pm, the concert will feature solos by Madree Musson, MP Michael Scott and David Darrell.

Their presentation will be augmented by the performance by Bobby Hill who will join a line-up of some of Bermuda’s most outstanding artists such as Joy Barnum, Simona Mills-Pitcher, Lloyd Holder, Lamont Robinson, and young saxophonist Aaron Spence.

The liturgical dance group, Angels of Praise, from Allen Temple under the direction of Dana Greaves, will also perform.

Tickets for the concert is $25 and can be purchased online at www.ptix.bm or at the Allen Temple Church office. For further information call 234-0433 or e-mail allentemple@northrock.bm.
